On April 14, Mayor Ballard announced the Greening of the City-County Building, a decades old structure that serves as the flagship of local government in Indianapolis. The Greening of the CCB is a partnership between the City and the Indianapolis-Marion County Building Authority. The Greening of the City County building will make the building more energy, water, and resource efficient, leading to savings for tax payers and improve our local environment.

The Office of Sustainability is leading this effort in cooperation with the Rocky Mountain Institute and the Green CCB Development Team, a team comprised of local green building and sustainability experts. Public participation is an essential component to the Greening of the CCB. There was a competitive process to serve on the Greening of the CCB Development Team.  In total, 89 applications were submitted, representing business sectors ranging from design & construction firms to engineering firms, and non-profits to universities and state agencies.
