Creating more urban gardens is a top priority for Mayor Ballard and the City of Indianapolis. Getting Indianapolis residents involved in growing food is vital to this process. The Office of Sustainability, in partnership with the Department of Metropolitan Development and the Indianapolis Land Bank, is pleased to announce the launch of a new Urban Garden Program, in which abandoned or unutilized land (under the management of the Land Bank) is made available to community groups or individuals for the purpose of urban gardening.
Mayor Ballard and the Office of Sustainability hope to expand the Urban Garden Program throughout the city. If you are interested in starting a garden in your neighborhood, download a copy of the application (Urban Garden Program Application) and email it to urbangardens@indy.gov. You may also email questions about the Urban Garden Program to urbangardens@indy.gov.
